The CeSIL Report for September 6

This week’s edition is dedicated to the “I” in our title: Involvement

There are lots of ways for you to become involved and participate both on our campuses and in the local communities. We have over 30 active clubs and organizations. They are listed on your SMCC portal (click the “Students” tab, and select the “Campus Life” link on the left).

This Friday (9/6), the Activities Committee will hold its first meeting of the semester. The committee plans large and smaller events, including the Welcome Back BBQ, the upcoming Halloween dance, Winterfest, and Springfest. If you would like more information, you are welcome to join the meeting Friday (3:30-4:30pm in the CeSIL office) or contact Kyle Snyder: activitiescommittee.cesil.smcc@gmail.com

Phi Theta Kappa (Alpha Chi Nu chapter) is continuing the Food Drive to collect non-perishable food items for our student food pantry .  Through Thursday, 9/12, you will receive an entry towards a gift card drawing.  (one entry per item, no limit to number of items) Local businesses, including Beal’s, Mr. Bagel, Pickett 158, Scratch Bakery and South Portland House of Pizza, have donated cards to help sponsor this food drive. Donations may be dropped off at the CeSIL office (SP Campus Center, Rm 105). For more information, contact Leanna Shields:  Leanna.Shields@yahoo.com

A dedicated team of volunteers have started a Book Drive in support of a new Veterans’ Library. The library will be housed in our new student facility, The Captain’s House. There is a high need for textbooks and school books. Your donation will be of great assistance to our veteran population. Drop off your book donations in the CeSIL office.
