This week’s edition is dedicated to the “L” in our title: Leadership.
Democracy in Action – Student Senate Elections
With an audience representing over 20 student body
representatives, club representatives and college staff, the SMCC Student
Senate held its second meeting on Wednesday, 9/11. It was
Election Day and students turned out to support the candidates running for the
2013-14 officer slate.
This year’s election was one like we haven’t seen in a
while. Each of the five leader positions had two or more students in the
running. It was an energetic way to start of the year with so many people
interested in leadership roles!
We’d like to congratulate all students who participated in
the process.
Your 2013-14 Student Senate Officers are:
President: Dan
Modifica
Vice President: Alex
West
Treasurer: Leanna
Shields
Public Relations Secretary:
Abby Baker
Recording Secretary:
Aaron Pierce
Look for interviews with Senate officers and other campus
leaders to be added to the CeSIL Report in the coming weeks.

How Far Will You Go to Realize Your Dream?
On Saturday, October 5th, SMCC’s MidCoast Campus
will screen the award winning documentary “The Boy Who Flies”.
The odd pair tour the country on bikes, building kites with youth while motivating them to follow their dreams. They are destined for Malawi's highest peak where, after weeks of ground training, the two will attempt to fly down and make Godfrey the first Malawian paraglider pilot.
