Student Leader Profile
Each edition of the CeSIL Report will feature a profile of one of SMCC's amazing student leaders. Recently CeSIL Staff Assistant Dawn Smith caught up with Rose Buckmore to ask her our student leader spotlight questions.
What are you involved in on campus?
I’m on the Women’s Soccer and Softball teams, Student Senate
(recently elected Vice President), and Activities Committee. I’m also a Student
Ambassador, providing tours and information to incoming and potential students.
Why did you get involved?
I like to be involved in my community and in college, this
is my biggest community. Being involved
on campus helps me give back to others and meet new people.
What are your long-term goals and how do you think your involvement helps this?
My short-term goal is attending the Maine NEW Leadership
training program this Summer. This will
build and enhance my long-term goal of becoming a lawyer, practicing in
Maine. I want to focus on Civil Rights.
I believe that my involvement will help me better understand diversity and our
political system, plus it helps me network and build relationships.
Who is the person that inspires you and why?
Margaret Chase Smith. She was one of the first women leaders
in our country, from Maine, and she really pushed for what she wanted. She
strived for her goals and she got there.
