Just a reminder: the American Red Cross blood donation bus will be visiting the South Portland campus on Tue., February 12th and Wed., February 13th, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
You could make someone's Valentine's Day extra special by giving the gift of life. The actual blood donation typically takes less than 10-12 minutes. The entire process, from the time you arrive to the time you leave, takes about an hour. And they usually have some tasty snacks after donation...
To make an appointment, please call the American Red Cross @ 1-800-RED CROSS.

Student Leader Profile
Each edition of the CeSIL Report will feature a profile of one of SMCC's amazing student leaders. Recently CeSIL Staff Assistant Dawn Smith caught up with Peter Dore to ask him our student leader spotlight questions.
What are you involved in on campus?
Men's Soccer, The Beacon newspaper, Student Senate (President) and the Activities Committee.
Why did you get involved?
I got involved to help strengthen the SMCC student community and feel like a connected member of a productive group; to help people help others.

What are your long-term goals and how do you think your involvement helps this?
To learn and explore all of my passions. It helps me by teaching me lessons about myself and other people. Everyday I learn more and more, but I realize I know less and less.

Who is the person that inspires you and why?
My grandfather. He is an amazing man; a veteran, a teacher, a coach, and an administrator. He has been passionate about everything in life. His strength and love are amazing. Leukemia and two years of chemo have yet to slow him down and he is well into his 80's. Whenever I need inspiration, I look to him.
