Welcome 2014
and Light Up The New Year!

Welcome back to the Spring semester at SMCC. The Campus Center halls are filled with lots of people and energy as the new semester begins. In the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership (CeSIL), we have a location that's convenient with our fellow student support departments and our staff is ready to help you with answering questions about campus activities, providing directions, and supplying the ever-handy SMCC Compass Student Handbook.

Coming up this Thursday, January 16th, we are excited to be part of the official opening of:
 The Captain's House.

The event is scheduled from 4:00 - 5:00 pm

You'll have the opportunity to tour the Captain's House, enjoy hot chocolate and roast marshmallows, and count down to the lighting of the Peace Tower.

The Captain's House is also the home of The Captain's Cupboard, the new SMCC student food pantry. Volunteers will be on-hand to collect non-perishable food items.

We're looking forward to seeing you on Thursday!

Join the
Portland, ME Transit Rider Coalition

The Portland, ME Transit Rider Coalition is a grass roots group of transit riders in greater Portland who get together periodically to discuss common issues they all face regarding their transit service. Do you like to generate thoughts and ideas or take action and lead? The coalition is in need of a variety of individuals.

Typical issues that will be discussed: infrequent service, overcrowded buses, buses that run late, buses that do not go to individuals' residences, workplaces, or places of recreation, bus stops that are difficult to board due to stops and side walks that are not shoveled or sanded, the desire for light rail service, buses that may be dirty, and many more.

Joining the coalition is free and fun. For more information, please contact Jeremy Arsenault at (207) 602- 9187 or jeremyarsenault_8@hotmail.com
