Danny From North Korea

Every year thousands of North Koreans make the dangerous journey across the border to escape oppression and poverty.
In March of 2005, Danny was one of them. Danny crossed into China and escaped a life of indoctrination, routine public executions, and starvation. As Danny traveled, he saw a world he never knew existed. A world where movement was not monitored by the government, information was readily available, and most importantly at the time, there was enough food to fill his empty belly.
Join the International Club on April 7th at Jewett Auditorium for Danny From North Korea, a documentary about Danny's story-- from his challenging life in North Korea, to his brave escape to China, and his resettlement journey in the United States. This event is free to public, so bring your friends and family for this story of hope and survival.  R

Michael Rood Transfer Scholarship  Winner

Since 2009, the New England Regional Alumni (NERA) of Phi Theta Kappa have selected two active chapter members within the region to receive a $100 scholarship to help defray the cost of transfer applications. This scholarship was formed to create an opportunity for students who plan to transfer from their two-year college to a four-year university.

This year, we are proud to announce that Andrew Ballantyne, Vice President of Administration for SMCC's Alpha Chi Nu chapter, is one of the recipients of the 2013 scholarship. Andrew is studying Electrical Engineer Technology and has been previously featured in our Student Leader Profile.

Congratulations Andrew!
